SILENT LOVE -With Noel Fernandes

1. If Arjun could send Anaya one completely honest message, what would it say?

“If I could tell you one thing, Anaya, it would be that you were never just an ordinary person in my life. Every little moment with you meant more to me than I could ever explain. I was afraid that expressing my feelings might change our friendship, so I chose silence. But the truth is, even when I said nothing, my heart had so much to tell you.”

2. If Anaya narrated ‘Silent Love,’ how different would the story become?

If Anaya narrated the story, readers would experience a completely different emotional journey. They would understand her thoughts, her confusion, her jealousy and the feelings she slowly discovers. Arjun’s version shows the pain of loving silently, while Anaya’s version would reveal what happens inside a heart that never expected to fall in love.

3. At what point do you think silence stops protecting someone and starts hurting them? How does this question connect with Arjun’s choices?

Silence stops protecting us when it becomes the reason we lose opportunities to express what we truly feel. Sometimes we remain silent because we are afraid of rejection or losing someone. Arjun represents this fear. His silence protects his friendship for a while, but it also creates misunderstandings and emotional distance. Through his journey, I wanted readers to understand that sometimes expressing our feelings is better than keeping everything inside.

4. Which character would you most like to sit down with, and what would you ask them?

I would love to sit down with Arjun. I would ask him, “Why did you choose to hide your feelings for so long when your heart already knew what it wanted?” I would also tell him that being honest about our emotions does not make us weak. Sometimes it takes more courage to speak than to remain silent.

5. Did any character make a decision that surprised you while writing? Did you follow that instinct or change the direction?

Yes, there were moments when the characters surprised me through their emotions and decisions. Especially the way jealousy and misunderstandings began changing relationships. I wanted the characters to feel natural rather than make every decision predictable. I followed those emotional developments because they helped make the story more realistic and relatable.

6. What would you say to a reader who feels frustrated with Arjun’s hesitation? Do you understand his choices, even when you disagree with them?

I completely understand readers who feel frustrated with Arjun. Sometimes we want him to speak up, express his feelings and stop hiding behind silence. But I also understand his fear. Not everyone has the courage to express their deepest emotions. I may disagree with some of his choices, but I understand why he makes them. I hope readers see a part of themselves in his struggles.

7. If you could let Arjun and Anaya relive one moment, which would you choose? Would you want them to act differently?

I would choose one of their simple, happy moments when they were together without misunderstandings, jealousy or emotional distance. I would want them to communicate more openly and understand each other’s feelings. Sometimes, the smallest moments become the most precious memories when we look back at them.

8. What was harder to write: the warmth of their friendship or the distance that grows between them? Why?

The distance between them was harder to write. Friendship brings happiness, laughter and beautiful memories, but showing two people slowly becoming emotionally distant is painful. I wanted readers to feel how even a strong connection can become complicated when feelings remain unspoken and misunderstandings begin to grow.

9. If ‘Silent Love’ became a film or series, which scene would you insist on keeping exactly as written?

I would insist on keeping the canteen confession scene exactly as written. It is one of the most emotionally important moments in the story because Arjun and Anaya finally face feelings that have remained unspoken for so long. I would want the emotions, silence and reactions to remain true to the original story.

10. Has writing this book changed your understanding of love? What would you now say to someone afraid to express their feelings?

Yes, writing SILENT LOVE has made me understand that love is not always about expressing feelings or expecting something in return. Sometimes it is about memories, care, friendship and emotions that remain in our hearts.

To anyone afraid of expressing their feelings, I would say: Do not let fear make every decision for you. Be honest with your emotions, but also respect the other person’s feelings. You may not always receive the answer you hope for, but at least you will know that you had the courage to speak from your heart.
